From the start it was like a secret society. You needed to know the handshake or password to get information. I guess that is why it took so long to start this incredible journey as a writer.

Since the age of six, when I first started to read, a book was always under my nose. This started it, and from that point reading the written word became a very important part of my life. I could not tell you how many books I have read, or plan to in the near or far future.

It started in 2011, when an uncontrollable desire to write short stories took over. I would hammer out words between work assignments and get a friend to look them over. After he read ten to twelve of my short stories he told me to write a book. And hence the story began.

After a few months I wrote “I Hate Zero-G.” It was a space opera, and I was sure it would make waves. Little did I know what had to happen in order to create a proper novel.

The baptism was by fire.

In 2012 the book was edited by another writer who promised he would do the work justice, but that did not happen. Instead of telling me what mistakes I had made the writer just corrected a few spelling mistakes and praised my work. I did not know about the true writing mistakes I had made.

In late 2012, after trying to complete a number of novels, I found NaNoWreMo, and completed my next novel, A Spear In Flight.

At the end of 2012 I had another novel, but no idea how to get it cleaned up for publication. Then along came Scribophile, and the wonderful members of that group. With their help the novel became closer to perfect than anything I had ever written before in my life. A quick edit by an actual editor and the novel published in 2013.

Now, in 2015, I hold the distinct pleasure of being seen as an up and coming writer. Two flash fiction pieces shortlisted with the SmashStories competition and a third about to be submitted.

To further my career as a writer I keep writing, creating, and putting more words to pages then I have ever done so before. A Spear In Flight proceeded A Sharp Spear Point and Slashed By A Spear Shaft. The three books make up the first three of the four book series Spear.

Now, with four years of writing behind me and three real publications, I find myself taking the next step-becoming a publisher.

But that is another story, for today I work on polishing up the third book in the Spear series, and getting ready to wish my wife happy birthday.
