I do believe I am an open-minded person and it is very important to me to understand and respect all different kinds of cultures. I think providing equal services to all clients and patients is important, because due to their race, culture, language barrier, gender, sexuality, etc... all of that is important to understand and take into account- but not to discriminate. It would be misconduct to treat a patient differently due to those factors. 

For example, for question 18. Some symbols—a positive nod of the head, a pointing finger, a “thumbs-up” sign—are universal and can help bridge the language gap. I chose the answer as false because I knew in some cultures that is a sign of disrespect, and not all gestures are universal. While gesturing is good to use while speaking- especially if they are from a foreign country, there are limits on what gestures are good and bad to use.

For question 19. Out of respect for a patient’s privacy, the provider should always begin a relationship by seeing an adult patient alone and drawing the family in as needed. I put the answer as true, but it was false. I can see how this answer could be false since often having family with you can put someone at ease and have feelings of security and safety with loved ones around.
