Two similarities I found between the CLAS standards, and the standards for Information Technology in the health field are to provide respectful and effective services to people of other cultures, as well as delivering accurate, accessible, and actionable health information that is targeted or tailored. It was hard to find documentation on the cultural standards of Information Security, which is what I eventually plan to go into, so I chose Heathcare Information Technology, which was a bit easier to find information on. As I go about my occupation as a corporate chaplain, I hear the heart of people. So many folks seem discouraged. When they have a need, Jesus seems the last place to turn. Others seem to have no concept of the Living God who intervenes in situations when invited in. While I prayed about how to be an encouragement, I remembered how God had met me many times in the past. I made a list and came up with about twenty stories. Each week I'd write one and take it to my critique group to get their input and feedback. I regard the Hi-B bar to be a family gem. It must be treasured, jealously guarded and passed down the generations. Established in 1923 and originally named The Hibernian, my father must have been a patron of this establishment since its first beginnings. He was born in 1897 and spoke fondly of his time spent here, sometimes before and after a visit to Cork opera house. In the 1930’s he moved to England with the Ford motor company but a visit to the Hi-B was a mandatory part of our annual summer pilgrimage back to Cork.
