My friend Mike and I made the mistake of floating the Jacks Fork River a spring fed stream in the Ozark Mountains when the water level was so low we had to get out and drag our canoe over almost every ripple for twenty five miles and we encountered lots of ripples. Jacks Fork was named one of the most scenic rivers in the world by Life Magazine.
